Ted Rowley (1950-2012)

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Ted Rowley, the former Principal of our predecessor school, John Bramston. He passed away on Wednesday 15th February following a period of illness.

Ted Rowley was appointed Principal of Bramston School in September 1990. During his time in charge he modified the name of the school to The John Bramston School in the mid-1990s and led the school successfully through the initial phases of Ofsted inspections in 1996 and 2000. Ted retired as Principal in the Spring of 2007. During his time at John Bramston Ted developed a love for Italy, where he and his wife eventually bought a house. They have enjoyed happy times there together and after leaving John Bramston, Ted took up a teaching post at a school in Rome, where he was able to enjoy his great love of teaching mathematics. He eventually retired from teaching altogether in April 2011 and spent his final months between his home in Britain and his house in Italy.

There will be many former students of John Bramston who will remember Ted Rowley and on behalf of them and of Maltings Academy's current students and staff, we send our sincere condolensces to his wife and family at this sad time.
